Surprised myself...
I was on a commercial assignment Wednesday with a busy client. We were shooting artwork in a luxury hotel in Monaco but were running out of time. The available light wasn't showcasing the pottery well, and there just wasn't enough time to pull out all the lighting equipment. In a pinch, I pulled out the Lightscoop and — voila! When I saw the results, I pulled the Lightscoop off again and shot it with direct pop-up flash. Okay, I admit I knew the direct flash would be awful, but then showing awful direct flash in comparison to light produced with the Lightscoop is half the fun of having this blog. Following are the results, which actually demonstrate another advantage of using the Lightscoop I've been meaning to point out. You can shoot much closer to your subject while using the flash than otherwise possible.
