Bounce light off a wall for nice portrait lighting

Isn't it amazing how unflattering direct flash can be for even an attractive person? Look at the difference using the Lightscoop™ to bounce the flash off a wall made in these two portraits. Changing the angle of the subject to the wall can also change the effects of the bounced light. The freedom to create simple lighting like this with a pop-up flash — using a Nikon D70 in this case — was one of my prime motivations for pushing through with the Lightscoop design.
